RANDY RUSSELL, MS
Director and Co-Founder
Randy has been assisting young people in finding and using their natural genius since 1974, when he and his family started a mentoring program for college students. One of the main assets Randy brings to his work with families is the training and initiation into adulthood he received from wise parents, mentors and "elders."
He has been instrumental in designing four different transition into adulthood programs, as well as serving seven years as a high school teacher, a summer camp director and a recreation and wilderness therapist.
Randy is currently completing his PhD in Applied Eco-Psychology from Akamai University. He earned his Master's degree from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in Recreation & Leisure. His post graduate training also includes secondary education, psychology, youth services, indigenous wisdom, outdoor emergency care and experiential education.
Randy has spent a life-time exploring the benefits of Deep Nature Connection and his Native American roots. Much wisdom and inner resources come from connecting with nature, knowing how to live in harmony with the laws of nature and understanding "rites of passage" and "vision questing". The awareness skills of the native scout and the modern concept of mindfulness training help students silent negative thought patterns and enrich their overall training.
