“Launching Young Adults” is a term used to describe the training at InnerPathWorks. Successful transition from adolescence into adulthood rarely happens without the benefit of mentorship from someone who has also made that same transition. Sadly, our ancestors abandoned or lost the skills to effectively prepare their children in their passage into adulthood. The result of this void is a large population of older people who missed the formal or informal “rite of passage” training; they are not equipped to mentor others and make the world a better place through their leadership. An example of this today is the prevalence of national, international and corporate leaders who are self-serving and blind to the long-term negative impact of their actions (or adolescent behavior).
InnerPathWorks defines “true” adulthood as when:
● childhood fears have become assets ● life decisions are based on wisdom and good counsel; intentional action not reaction ● pursuits are guided by a sense of purpose and an inner vision ● the individual shows up, does his* best and stands for something bigger than himself* ● the individual is at peace with who she* is, yet continues to seek growth and improvement ● actions intentionally benefit the culture and health of our planet and future generations ● the individual knows how to thrive and care for himself* and others in empowering ways
The heroes’ journey symbolizes a human development process which includes the death of the “child self” and the steps necessary to become an adult. Each individual finds her* unique adult identity and life vision through this journey. InnerPathWorks is the beginning of this journey. When the student is able to surrender to the process, he* can discover the path that will lead him* to a life and career that matches his soul identity. Our physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health is optimal when we are ourselves. Conversely, our health and life-span are adversely affected if we try to function like someone else.
A healthy culture (and educational system) does several things. It:
● hones practical life skills ● prepares, recognizes and celebrates major life transitions (birth, adulthood, marriage, elderhood and death) with ceremony ● seeks to assist the individual identify and utilize her* unique intelligence, giftedness and personality
InnerPathWorks embraces these healthy cultural practices and incorporates these principles in our program. Finding oneself and training for a life of purpose that corresponds to that self constitutes our most important goals. Typically, our graduates:
● have a positive sense of purpose ● know how to learn and seek long-term wisdom ● are well-prepared to succeed in formal education ● have a roadmap to prepare for the life they have envisioned ● enjoy good social and leadership skills ● possess survival and practical, sustainable skills that provides a sense of self-confidence ● understand the natural laws and, therefore, are looking to pursue long-lasting projects
* For the purpose of simplicity, reference to him or to her is inclusive and means either him or her; the same is true for his and hers, himself and herself. Our program is open to both male and female students.
