RANDY RUSSELL, MS
Director and Co-Founder
Randy has dedicated his life to assisting others find themselves; their gifts and genius. He carries the lineage of the wise parents, mentors, and elders who brought him into adulthood and helped him to forge his natural gifts for this service.
He designed and co-directed his first formal transition training for lost college-age students, The Russell House, in 1974. He designed and implemented strategic fun curriculum for self-discovery and positive peer culture at summer camps prior to this time. Since then, he has served as a high school teacher, recreation and wilderness therapist, and co-designed and co-directed two other transition into empowered adulthood programs.
His formal education is Master’s Level training in Education, Youth Guidance, Recreation and Leisure, Applied Indigenous Studies (wilderness survival, ancient scout philosophy and awareness), and Nature Connection. He is currently working on a PhD in Applied Eco-Psychology from Akamai University.
Chris spent 23 years teaching traditional high school English in California and Arizona. He also coached high school and collegiate soccer for over 25 years.
For the past eight years, Chrisʼ journey has immersed him in the experience of nature and wilderness through Tom Brown, Jr's Tracking and Wilderness Survival School, wilderness Fusionʼs school of Niasziih Healing and Bill Marple's Earth Voices. In the most recent six years, he has assisted Ben Sanford in Ben's Tribal Edge progam, a young men's initiations.
