INNERPATHWORKS has aligned themselves with Project NatureConnect at the Institute of Global Education, in association with Akamai University and Portland State University, to provide class work which facilitates self-discovery for the student. Our college courses are under the direct leadership of Dr. Michael Cohen, a pioneer of Applied Ecopsychology. Recipient of the 1994 Distinguished World Citizen Award, Ecopsychologist Michael J. Cohen, Ed. D. is a Program Director of the Institute of Global Education and Akamai University, where he coordinates Project NatureConnect. He also serves on the faculty of Portland State University and Akamai University.
Our classes at INNERPATHWORKS are a synthesis of ecology and psychology that proposes that both the destruction of the Earth's environment and people's isolation, stress and dysfunction stem from a fundamental denial of our connection to nature and its sensory voice. It recognizes that by psychologically reconnecting with authentic nature, we reverse our psychological disorders. These classes enable and inspire the student to create lives in line with their natural gifts and complimentary to natures principles of sustainable success. Educating Counseling and Healing with Nature (ECHN) has been researched by Dr. Michael Cohen and the above institutions since 1960.
ECHN is an easily learned, scientific means to consciously gain wholeness through tangible sensory contact with natural areas and people's inner nature. Through conscious sensory contacts with natural areas, the Natural Systems Thinking Process psycho-logically reconnects people with nature's ways and reverses challenging personal, environmental and global problems. ECHN offsets our society's excessive disconnection from nature. The greater a person's desensitization or disconnection from nature's voice, the greater are the problems that person suffers and causes. The ECHN curriculum enables us to endow our thinking and relationships with the wellness, balance and beauty of nature's ways.
